Update September 20, 2020
It has been a while since we wrote an update on Covid-19, but following yesterday’s press conference and the tightened corona measures, we have listed a few things for you. But the most important thing is that we adhere to the guidelines of the national government: https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/coronavirus-covid-19
Work at home, unless there is no other option
Since the launch of the Launch Cafe we have always opposed working from home, but since this year our message is also: “Work at home, unless there is really no other way.” If you can work from home, do it as much as possible. We understand better than anyone that working from home is not always the ideal situation. Work at home, unless there really is no other option and if there is no other way, you are welcome with us. Only indicate when you will come to work: this can be done in our web app, by email and via the Telegram DM of our community manager.
According to the new guidelines, a maximum of 30 people are allowed in a room, at the moment we are nowhere near that number of people and everyone can keep their distance. All workplaces are 1.5 meters apart and we have disinfection stations in many places in the building. If the crowds increase, we may still decide to keep the flexible part (and therefore the front door) closed.
For now, we assume that our community is wise enough to assess the situation. Do you see that other people have difficulty with the measures, feel free to address them about this, only together we can keep the LC open.
This means that we keep our flexible workplaces (and therefore also the front door) open every working day from 09:00 to 18:00. We are, however, lowering the staffing of team LC, given the decreasing workload (because more people are working from home again). At least one caretaker (Ed or Cris) and someone from the operational side of the LC (Julia, Roos, Pieter or Marthijs) is present every working day. So there is always someone present. Are you working at home and do you miss social contact? You can always send Marthijs (community manager) a message, then we will schedule a (video) call moment.
Do you have any questions or suggestions? Then let someone from team Launch Cafe know, this can be done via the well-known communication channels.

Update July 15, 2020
The Launch Cafe is gently out of the lockdown. We do this step by step, so that we do not create unsafe situations. This means the following:
For flex workers:
Flexers with a subscription can work again in the Launch Cafe.
We prefer that you reserve your spot at the Grand Cafe. People with a flex membership can do this via our Web app.
For the time being, we do not sell multiple day guest cards, but you are welcome to come up with your current credits. We do this to control the capacity of the Grand Cafe. We prefer that you let us know that you are coming to Launch Cafe. You can always call or email us.
Janitors and community manager are back at the times you are used of us.
We monitor the crowds in the building based on the number of devices that are connected to the internet. We do this in collaboration with Greatwaves, privacy is the starting point. The data is completely anonymized, does not contain any personal data and is stored for no longer than 7 days.
In view of the crowds, we have also decided not to organize the drinks and lunch together in large groups for the time being.
We adjust if necessary based on experiences, feedback and data. If it is too busy in certain places in the building, we will spread the crowds.
RIVM still has the advice: work from home if you can. The Launch Cafe cannot judge whether you can work from home or not. Therefore, you should decide for yourself whether you will continue to work at home for the time being, or whether you will start working from the Launch Cafe again. Of course you are only welcome if you have no complaints at all.
Do you want to work regularly in the Launch Cafe again? Then fill in the following form:
Do you have any suggestions for the Launch Cafe? Let us know! This situation is also unique to us, so ideas are very welcome!
Update May 19 – 2020
The Launch Cafe is preparing to carefully exit the lockdown. We do this step by step, so that we do not create unsafe situations. We take the following measures:
For flex workers:
1.) It is not yet possible to come and work flexible work in the Launch Cafe.
We understand that this is a huge damper for people with a flex desk. We have reluctantly made this decision and we hope that we can receive flexers again in the Launch Cafe. When this is possible depends on how busy the building is and how manageable the measures are.
For fixed desks:
2.) The Launch Cafe will open again on 25 May for people with a fixed desk. Depending on the crowds and the experiences, flex workers can also visit the Launch Cafe at a later stage.
3.) It may be that you can no longer work at your own familiar fixed, because we have to spread the crowds. We ask for understanding and cooperation for this.
4) Anyone who intends to work in the Launch Cafe from May 25 must complete a form (see bottom of this mail). Based on this form, we can estimate how busy it will be and we can communicate smoothly in the event of an outbreak.
5.) The caretakers work in the evenings and on weekends. Ali is present as caretaker during the day on Wednesday and Friday.
6.) We ask everyone to bring a coffee / tea cup from home and wash it YOURSELF.
7.) the coffee machine on the 1st floor will be moved to the hall on the 1st floor as soon as possible. There is more space here than in the kitchen. In connection with a repair, it is not yet completely clear when this will happen.
8.) In the course of next week, the connecting door to the 1st and 2nd floors will be locked. Users of the 1st and 2nd floors then enter through another entrance. The upper floors are, as it were, separated from the ground floor, to keep crowds and traffic in the building under control.
9.) We carefully monitor the crowds in the building based on the number of devices that are connected to the internet. We do this in collaboration with Greatwaves, privacy is the starting point. The data is completely anonymized, does not contain any personal data and is stored for no longer than 7 days.
10) Joint lunch and drinks are not allowed.
11) Based on experiences, feedback and data, we adjust if necessary. If it is too busy in certain places in the building, we will evacuate (parts of) the building.
RIVM still has the advice: work from home if you can. The Launch Cafe cannot judge whether you can work from home or not. Therefore, you should decide for yourself whether you will continue to work at home for the time being, or whether you will start working again from the Launch Cafe. Of course you are only welcome if you have no complaints at all.
Do you want to work at a permanent workplace OR in your office in the Launch Cafe from 25 May? Then fill in the following form:

Update (March 12 – 2020):
RIVM advises people to work from home as much as possible and to avoid events / spaces with many people. Because of the critical situation and of our international community, we feel the responsibility to temporarily close our flex desks.
People with their own office or fixed desk continue to have access to the building with their own key. Whether you come to work or not is your own responsibility, the same applies to receiving guests. Please note that we are not able to provide certain services ( at least not during office hours) this means:
– no cleaning
– no fresh coffee
– reception / reception
– package receipt
– other services that you are used to from us
We advise everyone to work from home as much as possible and hope to see everyone in good health again in the Launch Cafe.
Due to the coronavirus and the fact that two of our janitors fall in a risk group (due to their age), team Launch Cafe has decided to give Ed & Cris a leave of absence for the time being.
For the day-to-day operations, this means that other members of the Launch Cafe temporarily takeover the janitorial duties:
– Toilet cleaning twice a day.
– We keep a close eye on the presence of soap and paper towels.
– Trash bins are emptied at least once a day
– Trash bins without a lid are replaced with trash bin that has a lid (tip from Wouter, thanks!).
What can you do?
– Follow the advice of RIVM, stay at home if you are not 100% fit.
– Clean your own desk + keyboard / mouse etc. regularly.
– Clean up your own cups / dirty dishes and place them in the dishwasher.
– If you have a hygiene or anti-corona tip, let Team Launch Cafe know in a DM.
Bonus: do you want to help us? ❤️ It’s great if you want to help with vacuuming, for example. Please discuss this with the LC team.
